Connect Windsurf remote agents over SSH from the location selector
Windsurf 3.10.23–3.10.27 adds SSH remote agent hosts (saved hosts, status dots, transcript recovery) and restores Explorer/selection attachments in the composer. ACP is always on; Cascade Vibe & Replace, Deploy, Lifeguard, and related entry points are removed. Why this loop
Devin Desktop 3.10.23 lets you connect to agents over SSH from the location selector, with saved hosts, status dots, and a server icon in the sidebar; SSH sessions recover the exact transcript after a reconnect. 3.10.27 then opens those remote SSH sessions right after a reload or relaunch without a “session is locked by another process” error, so remote agents should be the default session type rather than fragile local leftovers. The same releases restore attaching context by dragging Explorer files onto the agent panel or sending an editor selection to chat (they add to the composer again) and let you activate Devin Fusion even when Claude Fable 5.1 is not available as a lead model. ACP is always enabled—the Enable ACP toggle is gone—MCP authorization opens the provider directly, and Docker-based MCP servers from the registry launch correctly; activation failures report the agent’s last stderr line and open that agent’s output channel. Stop depending on Cascade: the new-agent option, annotations, conversation mentions, settings group, automatic Lifeguard checks, Vibe & Replace, Deploy, and workflow commands are removed. Switch sessions in the Agent Command Center so the file explorer matches the active working directory, and delete unused local sessions from the sidebar.
Proposed actions
- Upgrade Devin Desktop to 3.10.27. Open the location selector, connect to each remote agent over SSH, save the hosts, and confirm a server icon and status dots appear in the sidebar.
- Reload or relaunch Devin Desktop, immediately reopen the remote SSH session, and confirm it starts without “session is locked by another process”; after a reconnect, confirm the exact prior transcript is restored.
- Remove all usage of these deleted Cascade entry points: new-agent option, annotations, conversation mentions, Cascade settings group, automatic Lifeguard checks, Vibe & Replace, Deploy, and workflow commands. Recreate that work as Devin Desktop agent sessions.
- Do not look for an Enable ACP toggle — ACP is always enabled. Authorize MCP by opening the provider directly, launch Docker-based MCP servers from the registry, and on activation failure read the agent’s last stderr line and open that agent’s output channel.
- Activate Devin Fusion even if Claude Fable 5.1 is not available as a lead model. Drag files from Explorer onto the agent panel or send an editor selection to chat so they are added to the composer again.
