Shrink Goose recipes to 32 params, 200 select options, and 128 KiB
Goose v1.52.0 enforces recipe caps (32 params, 200 select options, 128 KiB), lets recipe settings outrank GOOSE_SUBAGENT_MODEL/PROVIDER, requires recipe consent before extensions spawn, makes todo opt-in, and adds desktop live voice plus new models/providers. Update recipes and session startup now.Why this loop
Goose v1.52.0 rejects oversized recipes: max 32 parameters, 200 select options, and 128 KiB. Shared recipes past those limits must be split or trimmed before session/new. Recipe settings now outrank GOOSE_SUBAGENT_MODEL and GOOSE_SUBAGENT_PROVIDER, so env vars no longer override a recipe’s subagent model/provider—put the intended model in the recipe. session/new requires recipe consent before spawning extensions, and selecting none starts a chat with no extensions. Todo is opt-in with softer prompts, so workflows that relied on automatic todos must turn it on. Skills follow working-directory updates. Duplicate schedules no longer overwrite recipes. Desktop adds live voice; new providers/models include Decisions (OpenRouter and Jev), Z.AI Coding Plan with streaming tool calls, OpenAI custom base URL in the SDK, Opus 5.5, GPT-6-sol, GPT-6-luna, Databricks GLM-5.3, and Kimi K3 reasoning effort.
Proposed actions
- Upgrade to Goose v1.52.0, then in the desktop app start a live voice conversation for pairing or debugging instead of typing.
- Scan the repo for Goose recipes and rewrite any with more than 32 parameters, a select with more than 200 options, or a file larger than 128 KiB so they pass v1.52.0 recipe parameter limits.
- Remove GOOSE_SUBAGENT_MODEL and GOOSE_SUBAGENT_PROVIDER from shell profiles and CI; set the subagent model and provider in each recipe’s settings so recipe settings outrank those env vars.
- Before goose session or goose new from a recipe, grant recipe consent so extensions can spawn; if you want a bare session, select no extensions so the chat starts with none.
- Opt in to Goose todo only on workflows that need task tracking (todo is no longer default and its prompts are softer), and keep skills in the working directory you switch into because skills now follow cwd updates.
